The Ask
BCG wanted a gift for departing Managing Directors and Partners that felt appropriate for executives at that level — refined, elevated, and lasting — while still tying back meaningfully to BCG and its alumni community.
While the expectation was an ultra high-end experience, there was still a defined budget to work within, which meant every design decision needed to be intentional.
Our Approach
We focused the majority of the budget on the packaging experience itself, creating a keepsake-quality presentation that would feel substantial, personal, and worthy of the milestone. The goal was to make the box something recipients would keep long after the contents were used — elevating the entire gift without inflating cost through unnecessary excess.
To tie the gift back to BCG in a meaningful way, we built the contents around alumni-founded brands, pairing the physical gift with storytelling that honored recipients’ time at the firm and the broader alumni network.
What We Delivered
- Custom solid wood presentation boxes with gold hardware and engraved nameplates + the BCG logo engraved directly into the box lid
- Black felt interiors with custom cutouts and foil printing that detailed the years each founder spent at BCG, plus a pocket inside the lid designed to hold a handwritten note for each recipient
- Product sourcing, including a stoneware mug engraved with a subtle BCG logo, produced through a highly specialized engraving process approved by the original vendor
- Ongoing storage and fulfillment throughout the year
