Founder Kyla Brennan started Rare Assembly after years of struggling to find the right gifts for certain people and occasions. She started her own marketing firm in 2012, which she continued to run after its acquisition by The New York Times in 2016. During that time, she found herself constantly frustrated by the lack of thoughtful, well designed gifts to give to clients and employees -- and even friends and family.

Kyla's interest in this gap in the market turned into an obsession, until she finally decided to "quit her day job" and focus on the pursuit of good gifting full-time. She spent months tirelessly sourcing the most unique, beautiful and well-made products she could find, seeing if they would pass muster with her most finicky friends, and trying each and every item herself. (Fun fact: she sampled over 12 brands of cookies before deciding on the one Rare Assembly now carries. It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it!)
Today, we're confident that our gifts will charm even the pickiest people on your list. From the details in our premium packaging to the handwritten cards that accompany each gift, we've ensured that receiving a Rare Assembly is always a genuinely delightful experience.
